Mirroring Mozart's
now infamous Royal critique of "..too many notes!", Jon England's first
review in 1984 attracted the more generously humorous footnote of
"...never plays one note, where twelve will do!"
As you'll discover
whilst being bathed in the most beautiful, romantic and scintillating
performances to be enjoyed at the piano in many moons, the breathtaking
clarity of his joyous technique will definitely leave you wanting
"More", not less.
From his first
professional outing aboard the world famous Q E 2 Cruise liner
performing alongside the Glenn Miller Orchestra and Vic Damone, through
his melodiously packed discography and numerous seasons in the upscale
show-lounges, concert venues, radio and TV broadcasting shows of his
homeland (England, yes - England!), Jon's intuitive and entirely
self-taught natural talent have treated delighted audience's ears around
the world.
Drawing early
inspiration from keyboard giants Liberace, Fats Waller, Carmen Cavallaro
and Oscar Petersen - his ability to weave a rich musical texture using
every note on the piano caught the attention of the BBC
(Britain's PBS) leading to the unique, live, "At Your Request" weekly
broadcasts honoring the widest range of 'melodic-memory' requests
imaginable ... preserved for all time on his "On The Air" album series.
Whilst equally at
home performing solo or with full orchestra, a remarkable
multi-instrumental capacity enables Jon to orchestrate, arrange,
perform, engineer, produce and present his entire concert repertoire
live on stage exactly as it is heard when broadcast, with Jon
playing all the instruments; a-la Les Paul and Mary Ford, other
early multi-layered recording idols of his.
A freshly smiling mix of Roger Moore and Hugh Grant
coupled with a self-effacing yet infectiously humorous sense of engaging
ease on stage has made Jon and his "Velvet Piano" show such a
sought-after commodity - this, plus standards and classics including
"Begin the Beguine", "Titanic", "Eddy Duchin" favorites, "New York, New
York", Broadway Medleys, "Rhapsody In Blue" alongside Ragtime and
Classical 'must-haves'.
Share in the uniquely enjoyable glow
of this wonderful talent.
